I'm a physicist by training, and career, and while much of the developments in physics is as result of experimental data there are some cases where mathematical logic issued to make models and predications of future states that is absent from the data. Electricity/Magneistm and general relativity are 2 immediate examples where if we just relied on "data" we wouldn't have gotten very far.

What am I bringing this up? It seems to me that Bogleheads rely on data, and then since they swear ignorance of the future proceed with a course of action appropriate to that. Is there nothing in the Bogleheads philosophy that allows information from economic policy, interest rates, inflation, etc to be used to make better investment decisions as it relates to allocations, tilting a profile, or otherwise?
I agree with you. But the circumstances are rare.
