We used to live in the Bay Area for a long time. Given your age and no kids yet, I'd suggest continue renting. You don't want a house to limit your career mobility. Perhaps wait until you have a kid. You might want different neighborhoods, school district, commute, features in a house then.
Contrary to what some colleagues might tell you, you aren't throwing away money on rent. Property tax, home insurance, cleaning, lawn/garden service & home maintenance are significant ongoing expenses. And of course significant investment of time in a home.
