Investing - Theory, News & General • “Never Enough” by Jonathan Clements

When I read things such as,
We spend our lives running on the hedonic treadmill, imagining the next accomplishment—the new house, the seven-figure portfolio, the promotion—is all that stands between us and happiness...
I look around at the people I know, and I don't see anyone living their lives that way. Perhaps I live in a sheltered word.
Then I read
Humans are a restless, relentless bunch, always looking to improve their lives in one way or another.
And I think, yes, some people in certain societies in the last few hundred years have lived their lives that way, but this is not a universal human trait. And, it is not clear that such relentless seeking necessarily has good effects on everyone. Sounds more like the old-fashioned Protestant work ethic and not some universal human trait.
Ever stop by LinkedIn? Or read more than 10 minutes worth of threads around here?
