This honestly sounds exhausting to me. It only takes a couple of minutes to put rice in a rice cooker, and with the non-stick insert it doesn't take any more time to handwash the rice bowl. Many fresh greens like spinach and kale, or even carrots can be steamed in a pot with a lid, and a small amount of water in less than 5 minutes. Sprinkle with salt, with a little butter and you have a nice vegetable side. I instead recommend making lots of recipes and improving cooking skills. One eventually finds a fair amount of foods that appeal to your family's tastes and are very simple to cook. I can't imagine eating Costco's sheet pan meals over and over again.
You can do it that way, but then you're cooking all the time. Like everyday. I'd rather just be able to pull from the fridge/freezer and reheat in microwave. Plus you still have to throw the pot into the dishwasher anyway and transfer leftovers to containers...I eat a lot of rice, and the arsenic is a potential issue according to the FDA, even with white rice. Cooking it like pasta gets rid of 50-60%. I wish I never had to cook!
I usually cook dinner 3 to 4 times a week - there is usually at least one meal of leftovers every time I make a new entree dish. We are all different in what works for us.
