This has happened to me three times when the discussion has come down to price, starting in the 1990s and ending in the 2020s. The cars were one new domestic truck, and two domestic used sedans. There was nothing special about the vehicles (like being a collector car for example.) The dealers (no private sales involved) weren't "one-price" or no-negotiating-type dealers. Between then I bought three other vehicles without much discussion of price so there would have been no follow-up. But as I said most of us buy only a handful of cars in our lifetimes - 8 in my case so far - so experiences aren't statistically significant.Interesting - What year was this? Which brand? How many vehicles have you seen this with?
And yet again we have different life experiences: the only times when I haven't agreed on the OTD price with a dealer I've never heard from them again. But as with most people I don't have enough of such experiences to be statistically significant.
