Because I was persuaded by a broad swath of friends and family who insisted that, even if I thought the first one was unbearably cheesy, that TG: Maverick was different, and should appeal to even those who didn't care for the first one.But if you expect it to have artistic merit... why did you choose to watch in the first place?
I do not doubt that, given T. Cruise's personal piloting acumen, that no small amount of authenticity is evident in the filmed flying sequences. I concede, they were compelling. The rest of the movie, esp. the story - did not land for me.
