Went to Schwab today in Honolulu and was able to speak face to face with their free Financial Advisor, who has worked there 27 years and is a VP. She was very nice and professional and was fine with continuing to provide with continued free financial services. She said she can have fees waived to get accounts transferred to Schwab and would see whether they can match bonuses which I printed out and brought to show current offers. She talked about trying to get us 2 $2000 bonuses for 2 transfers.
H and I were pleased with her and she says they can give up to 3 free wire transfers/quarter, which will be useful. She says tho she’s not required to do so, she acts like a fiduciary. She likens herself to a family practice doc that works with specialists—your CPA, estate attorney, etc.
We plan to transfer our assets from Fidelity and Vanguard and some from local bank and consolidating them at Schwab. It’s tiring having so many different places where the funds are and we like having a local bricks and mortar place. They have branches in the states my kids currently live in too.
We still plan to have H’s and my retirement 453 accounts where they are, at TSP and wherever the state of HI moves mine from time to time.
